Places along the Berg River - Wellington:

Bainskloof Pass is an historical monument, which was built by Andrew Bain in 1853. The pass itself is one of the scariest (personally), and while driving up it I can definitely feel my stomach in my mouth! If you look down on the one side it feels like you could just fall off the side of the world, but it is totally worth the most spectacular views when you get to the top.

The treasures here are the Bainskloof corner lodge bar, and, if you are a nature lover, the Limietberg nature reserve (http://www.capenature.co.za/reserves.htm?reserve=Limietberg+Nature+Reserve). Here you can camp, mountain bike or hike and lounge in crystal-clear mountain pools - ice cold cider in hand!

In Wellington near the foot of the pass, you will find the James Sedgewick distillery (www.bainscapemountainwhisky.co.za ) and it’s here that you’ill find the award winning Bain’s Cape Mountain Whiskey

Bain’s Cape Mountain Whiskey Cooler

  • One tot of whiskey
  • One tot of apple sour’s or lime
  • One 250mil ginger Ale

Serve in a highball glass with ice and a twist of lemon - (rock) pool side.
